The Public Gets What the Public Wants....

So many of you have been asking me for music suggestions recently, I could make you a mix-tape but I would have to start it out with Europe's Final Countdown and you would take it out before that shit ended.

So, below you will find some fine artists who can currently be found kickin' flava in mah ear.

1.) The Cake- Slice of the Cake

No, not the "He's Going the Distance" guys. The Cake is one of the more underrated 60s girl groups. Slice of the Cake, the follow-up to their Jack Nietszche produced debut combines girl group harmonies with a psych-pop edge. It's only available on vinyl, so snag it if you see it.

2.) Bloc Party-Silent Alarm

There really isn't anything to say about these guys that hasn't already been said. So buy the album and shake your ass.

3.) Dungen- Ta de lugnt

I really don't know how to describe this other than FUCKING AMAZING. Combine early King Crimson with the 13th Floor Elevators, only with Swedish lyrics. Download a sample from the site..it will change your life.

4.) Kasabian-Self Titled

Sure they may be just another Primal Scream rip-off, with an Oasis-like gift for talking shit, but they offer up the best dance party of 2005. Certain to be the 2nd best show I see this year (behind U2).

5.) Kaiser Chiefs- I Predict a Riot 7"

I have to admit, I don't really care for the album. That being said, I Predict a Riot is certainly the single of this year, last year (sorry Beyonce) and most likely next year. Think of the Jam covering Magazine's Shot by Both Sides, and add that dude from Manfred Mann on keyboards and you have an idea.

6.) Eux Autres- Patrick Nil 7"

A friend of a friend's band. If Jack and Meg White listened to Serge Gainsbourg and Jacques Dutronc instead of climaxing over lost tracks by Mississippi John Hurt, they'd probably sound like this.

In the next few weeks I plan on uploading my first podcast onto the blog, so you can listen to some rad tunes on your computadora. In the meantime, listen to Rick's. Much like his blog, its probably better than mine will be anyway.
